Mustache of the week: Wide Receiver

I’m back this week I’m gifting you a dynasty “Stache”. If things hit, he could be a solid flex play for the 2019 Fantasy Championship.

I know what you are thinking, why would I want any player on a dumpster fire. The player I’m going to discuss today though is Jakeem Grant.

Jakeem Grant:

Jakeem is a prime type of player I like to “Stache” in Dynasty, and one that I have multiple shares of. While Brian Flores has expressed his pleasure with perennially disappointing Davante Parker the position is essentially wide open. I’d actually say the whole roster is open, Mark Walton is the teams new Rb 1 and its possible for Grant to become the teams WR1. Albert Wilson and Preston Williams are the only competition, but Jakeem will be (Grant)ed a roster spot due to special teams next year.

While not built like a prototypical Alpha WR, standing only 5’7″ and weighing 176lbs he has the tools to be one. Drafted in 2016 he’s been around awhile, (same class as Tyreek Hill) Gifted with burners (4.34 40) and a 37″ vertical he can be deployed as a field stretcher. With a knack for finding the end zone in college, I’m sure it won’t be long before Flores has red zone packages for him. Also a fantasy dual-threat, he can take any punt or kick to the house. He shouldn’t be punished for playing in an Adam Gase offense to start his career Flores offers a fresh start.

Given this year as an evaluation year for the Dolphins Grant was getting some run before a hamstring injury. He gives you sneaky bonus points for leagues that reward punt and kick returns. Similar in style to Tyreek Hill (both late rd picks, undersized explosive) don’t get excited he’s not that level. While the Dolphins offense is not the Chiefs (few are) there is hope that it will be better in 2020.

What to do going forward:

Grant is free, and the Dolphins seem determined to make Tua the QB of the future. If they continue to improve the o-line Tua to Grant could be fruitful. Miami plays one of the best fantasy playoff schedules imaginable (Jets, Giants, Bengals). All these teams are horrid are should be exploited by fantasy managers Parker and Walton will be used but Grant shouldn’t be forgotten about. Pick him up now if injuries strike, or you become strapped Championship weekend you might find it useful. Although this pick up should be seen as a long term opportunity for 2020. Join me next week as I bring you another Mustache…a hint to who it is…you Auden check it out 😉
