10, Non-Chalk, Sleeper Players You Could Plug-In For Large DFS Tournaments For Week 12

Thirsty 30:

I will list 30ish players that I am using as core players to make up my rosters for DFS games.

I’ll list twenty or so chalk players, and ten players who I think would make good, non-chalk tournament plays.

*Disclaimer-These articles sometimes take up to 24 hours to publish.  Please check the official starting statuses via social media, sports websites, or pregame shows, for the players you are rostering, as players sit/start, at a moments notice due to injuries, etc. and thus can substantially affect/wreck your roster.*

The picks below are specifically for DFS large tournament rosters, Sunday Main Slates, but can be inserted into cash lineups as well. They are in no particular order of preference.

QB:

What a crazy week! Baker Mayfield will be chalk, after struggling mightily until a couple of weeks ago.  Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston are both projected to be over 300 yards passing by our pals in Vegas.  If I were consistent, I’d mention Trubisky in my tournament plays, as all three of WRs have THE top WR/CB matchups, according to pff.com, but I just can’t recommend him.

DFS Tournament Plays:

Jeff Driskel: Driskel may not seem like your typical DFS hero, but he’s playing a team in Washington that gives up: 19.7pts to QBs and an almost equal amount of points to both WR1 and WR2, along with decent points to TEs.  That fits all of Detroit’s weapons (Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Hockenson).

Drew Brees: Hard to pass up on Brees at sub 5% projected ownership, especially since he’s also projected to take a flame thrower to the Carolina offense. Michael Thomas is projected at over 107 yards receiving so the two are a great stack together, and throwing in Kamara would make it a killer, but a very expensive trio.

The Chalk:

Matt Ryan, Baker Mayfield, Russell Wilson, and Jameis Winston

RB:

Both Chubb and Kamara have tasty matchups, and while they’ll both end up being mega chalk, they’ll be hard to ignore.  Slipping in players that have 30% projected ownership isn’t going to help you win tournaments, but they will help you not get buried in the rankings if they happen to go off.  Below are some lower owned pivots that could help you differentiate your roster.

DFS Tournament Plays:

Kareem Hunt: Hunt has seen 17 targets, the last two games, and the Dolphins have given up large bunches of point to two RBs, a game, at times this season.  Hunt will be sub 10% owned, and I love the stacking potential that putting multiple Browns players (including Hunt) gives against a real sub-par Dolphins team.

Christian McCaffery: This season, I’ve been the guy that wants to lock-in studs that are going to go overlooked.  CMAC is expensive, but if you can fit him in, his >10% ownership looks mighty nice.
Ronald Jones: Until a few weeks ago, the Falcons were one of the worst teams against the run.  Their defense has pretty much locked down teams, the last couple weeks, but with an over/under of 52 points, it’s worth taking a shot that the Atlanta defense will revert to its old ways (especially since they have to worry about both Mike Evans AND Chris Godwin).  Jones has smashed in spots where he was supposed to smash.  At sub 4% ownership, he’s being forgotten.
Mix in 1-2 of these guys with your favorite chalk plays.

The Chalk:

Le’Veon Bell, Nick Chubb, Alvin Kamara, Leonard Fournette, Miles Sanders, and Brian Hill.

WR:

Julio Jones, OBJ, Michael Thomas, and Mike Evans.  It’s a variable who’s who of the WR world.  All of these guys have the potential to go off, and I have three of these guys on my “could get 2 TDs” list (Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Evans).  They will all be pretty expensive to have, but as with the RB chalk, all of them could take your roster to the cash town U.S.A.  Since it’ll be tough to afford all these guys, here are some non-chalk pivots to choose from:

DFS Tournament Plays:

Allan Robinson: He’s the best WR on the team facing probably the worst passing defense in the NFL, in the NY Giants.  Taylor Gabriel has also been getting a ton of targets, as it seems Trubisky has locked in on him, but Robinson gives you the best shot for consistent points.

Terry McLaurin: The Lions are one of the worst teams about giving up points to WR1s (ATL, TB, ARI, MIA, and NYG give up more points–Hence, on the reasons Julio, OBJ, MT, and Evans are chalk, this week).  At 4% projected ownership, you get a top-tier WR that everyone is ignoring for the “name” guys (who are MUCH more expensive than McLaurin, this week).  If Haskins can get him the ball…look out!

Chris Godwin:  Stud at sub 10% ownership.  If Evans is shut down, then Godwin will have a massive day.  It’s possible that both Evans and Godwin have huge days, but Godwin is coming in at about 5-6% less ownership.  Godwin’s been averaging just over 56 yards/game, the last four weeks, that’s sure to sour some folks from playing him.

D.J. Chark: Chark is coming off a 15 target/2TD week, and it appears that Nick Foles and he are going to be one of those dynamic QB/WR duos (just as Chark and Minshew were).  The Titans passing defense can be pretty stingy. Chark torched them for four rec, 76 yards, and a TD in Week 3.  This time he has a more seasoned QB throwing to him, as well as a sub 5% projected ownership.

The Chalk:

Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr., Michael Thomas, Calvin Ridley, and Mike Evans

TE:

Zach Ertz is back to being chalk again, after popping back on the fantasy radar.  If the Eagles are going to go back to feeding Ertz a ton of targets (and thus making him a TE, with WR1 stats), then it’s worth paying attention to Ertz at the TE spot.

DFS Tournament Plays:

Ryan Griffin: Griffin cashed in this week, with a huge three-year contract, and he’ll be looking to score huge fantasy points this week as well.  Griffin is coming off a five reception, 109 yards, and a TD in Week 11

The Chalk:

Darren Waller, Zach Ertz, and Vance McDonald

Hopefully, this helps with some of your DFS decisions this week.  Good luck!
