Who are some Dynasty waiver wire adds ahead of week 1?
With the start of the 202 NFL season about a week away, dynasty owners are making last minute adjustments to their rosters prepping for opening week. I play in four dynasty league and all of them have deep benches. Since there were no preseason games, roster cuts seem to be harder than ever. In this article, I’ll provide some dynasty waiver wire adds owners should look to target going into week one.
Ryquell Armstead/Devine Ozigbo – RB, JAX
I know this seems like a no brainier, but double check your waiver wire to make sure these players aren’t available. With former Jaguars starting running back, Leonard Fournette being released on Monday, someone has to play running back and Chris Thompson isn’t a three-down running back. With Armstead missing valuable practice time, it wouldn’t shock me to see Devine Ozigbo have a bigger role than first expected to start the season. Neither player is more than a low-end RB2/Flex play.
Scott Miller – WR, TB
There are high expectations of Tom Brady and this Buccaneers team, going into this season. A player who’s been having a great training camp is Scott Miller. In my opinion, he has all but claimed the number three wide receiver role, behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. With Evans, Godwin, and Gronkowski getting the majority of the defensive attention Miller could find himself getting a decent amount of weekly targets. Miller has seemed to gain the trust of Tom Brady, which is huge. Miller faces the New Orleans Saints in week one. Double check your waiver wire if you’re in need of wide receiver depth.
John Hightower(R) – WR, PHI
This rookie has had a great training camp. With injuries to fellow wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and rookie Jalen Reagor, Hightower looks to have put himself in position to have an early season impact. I’m expecting him to line up with DeSean Jackson and JJ Arcega-Whiteside. As long as Carson Wentz can stay healthy, he and this offense should have a nice bounce back year. I was able to add Hightower to a couple of my dynasty leagues, so maybe you can get lucky as well? As an added bonus, the Eagles play the Washington Football Team to open the season and the Rams in week two.
Jordan Akins – TE, HOU
With the trade of star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins earlier this off-season, someone needs to catch passes from Watson and I don’t think Cooks will get them all. Here are a couple of things that work in Akins favor as a deep sleeper. First, all three of Brandin Cooks, Will Fuller, and Randall Cobb have missed games due to injury. You can also throw starting running back David Johnson into that category too. Second, Akins led all Houston tight ends with 55 targets, last season. He has a connection with Watson. Lastly, the Texans play the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens in the first two weeks of the 2020 season. Akins might be available on your waiver wire and would make a solid pick up for those in need of tight end depth or in tight end premium leagues.
