Though Trey Lance is getting all the Devy buzz, Jayden Daniels and Spencer Rattler also offer unreal upside. Just be patient.
As we continue to dig into the top Devy QBs, this set of QBs is all about upside and astounding potential. Jayden Daniels and Spencer Rattler were two of the highest rated 2019 prospects coming out of high school, while Trey Lance was the 49th ranked QB by 247Sports in the 2018 class and is now considered a top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

#4 Trey Lance- North Dakota State
3rd & 23, no one open so Lance runs for a long rushing touchdown!
You also have to appreciate how Lance looks over all of his options before running.. pic.twitter.com/JND7gnL3z1

Where did this GUY come from? The North Dakota State redshirt freshman blew up on social media after dominating the FCS division. The Minnesota native won just about every major offensive award in the D1 subdivision and led his team to an undefeated championship season. A big arm QB who was just as productive with his legs posted 42 total TDs (28 air, 14 ground) with ZERO picks.
The 6-foot-3, 225 lb prospect checks a lot of boxes that you want in a 1st rd pick- prototypical size, great college production, arm strength, accurate passer, particularly on the deep ball, outstanding running ability, and he’s a winner. I’m buying the hype on the future 2021 1st rd pick and would be considering him at any point in the 2nd round in Superflex Devy start-ups. Go big or go home!
#5 Jayden Daniels- Arizona State
PAC-12 Player Spotlight:
Jayden Daniels (@ASUFootball QB)
– 17 TD’s & 2 ints in 2019 Fr. Season
– ESPN Freshman All American
– 355 Rushing Yards
– Ranked by 247 as the Best QB in the PAC-12 for 2020-21

The California kid, who had a 98 grade from 247Sports, was a monumental signing for Herm Edwards and Arizona State program. The slender QB has fallen a bit under the radar after a solid campaign as a true freshman behind a questionable offensive line. Sure, his numbers are not eye popping, but if you saw his performance against Oregon then you know he’s the real deal.
A true freshman throwing for just under 3,000 yards with 17 TDs to only 2 interception is still quite impressive. At only 175 lbs, he needs to fill out that frame to pair with his big-yet-accurate arm and play-making ability. Daniels possibly has the most upside of any QB in 2022 rookie class and would be a steal in the 3rd round in SF devy start-ups, but he may go even later than that! The value is there.
#6 Spencer Rattler- Oklahoma
It’s usually quite uncommon putting a guy as top 6 QB who’s never started a college game could seem crazy. Well, Spencer Rattler could end up being ranked way too low by the end of the year. The former Elite 11 MVP received grade 99 from 247 Sports, which was the highest among all 2019 QB prospects.
He was stuck behind Hesiman runner-up and now Eagles “QB” Jalen Hurts, but currently has 4th best odds (12-to-1) to win the Hesiman trophy before he’s even started a game. It’s a safe bet that the five-star Sooner will blow up in 2020 and create 2022 NFL draft buzz . Look for him at the end of the 3rd or early 4th rounds in SF devy drafts.
